Can I get a witness?

Diana got us tickets to The Color Purple for last Saturday and oh, it was good. The cheapest seats in the house are more than a Benjamin and when we presented the lady usher our tickets, she replied in a daze, “You’re up with Jesus, young ladies.” Indeed, we were in the top row, but little did we know that this was any indication as to what was to come. Seeing The Color Purple on Broadway was as close as I have come to being saved from the devil. Who knew that I would be so close to Jesus in the sinful streets of New York City? There was hardly a moment when you didn’t hear someone yelling out, “Oh no he didn’t, child!” or “Praise his name, Lord above!” The music was pure Southern sweetness and the premise was what I had remembered loving so much in the movie and book from Alice Walker. The bond of sisters that made me miss my lovely girlfriends and the strength of women that surpass time and race. Halleluiah!
