Nate and I decided to take a little road trip two weekends ago. After a last minute trip to the car rental lot in our neighborhood, we took off in our sweet Hyundai and hit the road for Vermont at about 9 pm on Friday night. The two of us love a good road trip and even though it’s only been about 2 months since we been in a car, it felt more like two years. There’s something so fun about being in the car with the sunroof open, finding the perfect songs on the radio and stopping at gas stations your dinner, crossing your fingers that the bathroom doesn’t involve an outside door and a key. We made it to Vermont about 1 am and were staying on a property that boasted 25 acres of beauty. Unfortunately, Nate and I had spent the last hour of the trip discussing In Cold Blood and The Amityville Horror and I what didn’t freak me out by nature, was taken care of by ghosts. Anyway, I was armed with my tall rubber boots, that were worn the entire weekend (snake protection) and ready for anything. Anything but NO air conditioning and a fly infested love nest. Luckily we were prepared with our usual outdoor gear-a case of beer- and promptly cracked one (after another) open. The outdoor area was gorgeous with maple trees everywhere and swimming holes gushing with crystal clear water that was explored the following morning. We ventured into 5 different states that weekend and stopped whenever and wherever we felt. One thing is for sure, the East coast country is beautiful. And it was an adventure, as always. In fact, we’re going back this winter to ski.
