Something's in the oven

I've been waiting for this call...and got it 2 weeks ago this Saturday. Jona is pregnant!!!!! She and Ryan have been trying to have a baby for quite sometime now, a little baby Garrett will be here this fall...I am happy beyond words. Jona and I have been best friends for 23 years and when the closest thing that you have to a sister is having her first baby, words cannot express how amazing of a feeling this is.

I was on the subway the Monday after Jona told me the news and my wandering mind began thinking about this baby and what's in store for it's life. Who will it look like? Obviously, it will have both of their big beautiful blue eyes and gorgeous dark hair. It will definitely have good taste in music and a hilarious sense of humor. Will it have Jona's laugh? Ryan's phenomenal business sense? Will Ryan raise the baby a Republican? I also thought about my role in this baby's life. If it's a girl, she will surely be the most well-dress little lady in Columbia. I thought about how I hoped that the parents would let Nate and I take him or her on a trip someday and visit us wherever we are at the moment.
At this point, I'd actually bypassed work by three stops on the train when I started agonizing about if Jona and Ryan's (now in my mind) teenage girl would be going on Spring Break trip and that I would need to talk to them about having her ultra-cool Aunt Anne take her to someplace like, Europe instead, because I'm sure she would never behave anything like her mother and I did on our Senior Trip, but it's other people you have to worry about these days and Europe could be educational, but still really cool for her.

Before I could have an anxiety attack over their unborn child, I finally made it back to my stop and to work only a half-hour late, still basking in the good news. Congratulations, my dearest friends!
