feb

Since our trip to Belize, we've been trying to survive this brutal winter. Last year was a tease because this one’s been completely freezing. Nate’s the type of person who can walk around in below zero temperatures while wearing denim cutoffs and a wife beater (his Sunday best), and he’d most likely break a sweat. But, even he is ready for spring.

We did move uptown on Feb first (again) because we found a too-good-to-be-true find on a 2 bed/2 bath, in our old hood. The best part is that it has an outdoor space that we will not be sharing. Nate is insanely excited to put patio furniture and a grill out here, but I’m thinking of trashing it out with a baby pool for those sweltering summers I’m looking forward to. I must say, I miss the great restaurants and bars in our old hood (we’re across from Brother Jimmy’s) but it’s nice to not live in dead-end projects street and I’m afraid that Nate and I were just not hip enough for the East Village on so many levels.

We also had a party for Nate’s bday last weekend and successfully did not get evicted our first weekend in our new place. We ended the evening at our old watering hole and then spent the following V-Day at our old uptown Italian dive. The rest of the weekend was spent catching up on Oscar nominated flicks. Nate and I both loved The Wrestler and Mickey Rourke. We both liked Benjamin Button (me more so than him). Same for Slumdog Millionaire. I loved Milk, but went with a friend, so Nate has not been able to see it yet. And we both saw Revolutionary Road and although the acting was good, the movie was kind of boring (but still good-ish). It was a Debbie Downer, so although we planned to chill, we ended up at a bar riding a mechanical bull at the end of the night. Maybe there was a need to prove that were not the old boring married couple headed for a life of disaster. I’m sure the bull saved us.
