This last weekend was full of new discoveries. First off, the place down the street where we rent movies gave us the Sopranos DVD when he found out that we had never seen the show. What a smarty pants-we are since fully addicted and will probably spend more $ renting these than a lifetime of HBO. Anyway, we decided to have Italian night. We went to Little Italy for the San Gennaro festival, that evening I whipped up a little pasta with scallops, had some Italian vino and watched an episode or two of our newest addiction. We also decided to pull out the portable gambling table and shoot some craps. Somehow this fit our theme, right? I ended up poorer than before, it’s a good thing we share money.
On Saturday we wanted to check out this hidden bar inside of Crif Dogs hot dog shack. The entrance is located in a phone booth on the right and there is a video screen and a telephone where you can get buzzed in. It’s was a pretty cool spot, all candlelight and romantic with great cocktails and good music. We had a few drinks there and moved on to Ace Bar-main attraction…ski ball, so much fun! Then on to Lunasa Bar, which had a nice outdoor patio. Finally on to some place (don’t remember the name) that was about the diviest place I’ve ever step foot (and that's saying alot). There were booths where the seats were either made or held together (I think the latter) by duct tape, I’m pretty sure you could smoke and the patrons highly resembled the cast of Cocoon, just a little harder around the edges. Best part of this place, other than feeling like a spring chicken, was that it had the old skool juke box. Old being the theme here….
