Panna II- http://www.panna2.com/
This crazy Indian joint in the East Village is quite the experience. There are three other Indian places next door and underneath and when you walk up, they all hassle you to come in (the kind gent of a host gave me a friendly shove in on our last visit). Panna II is known the be the best and always packed. It’s tiny and surely a fire-hazard because of the bazillion chili pepper Christmas lights that hang from the ceiling. Soup, naan, appetizer, entrĂ©e and ice cream cost $10 and if you tell them it’s someone’s birthday, they turn of the lights, turn on the disco ball and go bananas. Oh, and it’s BYOB-last time we went with Tory and Diana and they happily opened our 12 pack and two bottles of wine at no charge.

The Other Room- http://search.cityguide.aol.com/newyork/bars/the-other-room/v-106919427
This candlelight bar is on an almost hidden cobblestone road in the West Village. This is the perfect date bar with plush seating, a dark atmosphere and candles everywhere. We stumbled upon this gem and it’s now a favorite. Great beer selection and a nice wine menu.

Trailer Park Lounge- http://www.trailerparklounge.com/home.asp
This bar in Chelsea looks like an actual trailer but it’s obvious that they didn't really do their proper research on WT. It’s definitely the epitome of kitsch though with knocked-up and smoking mannequins, Elvis Memorabilia and a tiki bar. They boast strong margaritas and deliver- enough to have me inhaling tots and moon pies by the end of the night. This place knows how to treat a Missouri girl. The featured Tonya Harding story is a nice touch.

Babycakes- http://www.babycakesnyc.com/
I love this place and its walking distance from my office, in fact, I just had it for lunch. Their baked goods don’t have any of the bad stuff and therefore I never feel guilty for consuming the likes of a chocolate cupcake, brownie bite and chocolate-chip cookie in one sitting.
