Tory's 30th

Anne and I recently flew back to Springfield for two days to celebrate the 30th birthday of one Tory Jay. The bash was held at Bijan’s Under the Tower. Needless to say, a good time was had by all. This good time was ensured in no small measure by the planning of Justin and Bob, who spared no expense in putting on a first class affair complete with an ice sculpture made into a giant “T”. Flame catered with some tasty mini burgers, beef sashimi, seafood ravioli, and some other finger foods. The food tasted just like it smelled…delicious. Tory was given an excuse and while he “suspected” something was up, had no idea that the guest list would be so lengthy and was appropriately surprised by the whole deal. I have to say it got a bit dusty in the room when he arrived. I’m not sure why this was but I heard tell from several of my friends that they too thought it got dusty, so it wasn’t just me. After he arrived things got underway in a proper fashion. The bartenders earned their tips for sure, and the DJ put on an excellent array of tunes, with no shortage of Beastie Boys tracks. Some rapping was done by Tory, Matty, and myself which was a lot of fun. I also have to say that everyone in attendance had as many drinks as I’d seen them have, for some this was par for the course, for others they just decided to throw down for the occasion I guess. Anyway you slice it, it added up to a fantastic time. By the end of the night things were getting quite hazy for many of us. It was a hell of a lot of fun, and everyone was glad that we got to do something nice for Tory as he is the first to do it for anyone else. While the stay was short for us, it was awesome nonetheless and in my opinion, couldn’t have been spent any better.
