Like Mother, Like Daughter

There are people in life that you mesh well when traveling together and people that you don’t. Nate and I travel well together. We’ve somehow made our completely different personalities and interest work nicely when it comes to what we like to do when seeing new things. Nate’s historical/tourist stops are kept at a speedy 5 minute intervals and his anal-retentive triple check method has accounted for many of my scatterbrained misplaced passports, handbags and cameras. We always have tons of fun together.
But traveling with my mom is travailing with no compromise, so I was ecstatic when she came for a visit and had I had absolutely no reservations when I told her to make a list of everything that she wanted to fit in her 4 day trip (I’m learning that this can be dangerous) .
These were her essentials:
-Tour only the fashion and furniture section of the Met (check)
-Find new flat boots (check-she bought me the same pair)
-Stalk Anthony Bourdain (we’re A LOT alike-half a check)
-Have a delicious Italian dinner (check)
-Find the best cupcakes in NYC (check-it took 6 bakeries)

We’re the kind of people who like to check things off of a list.
