Nate and I spent our Christmas in New York and it really is a beautiful place to be this time of year. Although we missed our family and friends, we spent our week enjoying all of the cities holiday festivities. Sunday we saw the tree at the Met and spent some time exploring there.
Our friends, Scott and Jamie hosted a dinner on Christmas Eve dinner and since Scott is originally from Poland, they had a few really nice traditions like a 12 course Polish dinner with a healthy amount of vodka shots in between courses (something my Southern Baptist family might need to be introduced to), breaking bread with well wishes to each guest as well as some others that were really nice to experience. It made for a special night and a lovely holiday eve.
Christmas morning the Mr. and I woke up and tore into our gifts. I bought Nate a panini maker and he has
since made approximately 20 paninis since the 25th of December. I’m afraid I’ve created a monster…you give Nate a gadget and a manual and he is easily amused to say the least. Yes, my friends, all meals, snacks and even desserts can be made with a crispy outside and hot and delicious middle filling.
We worked off our traditional Christmas day panini breakfast and panini lunch by ice skating in Bryant Park. Despite the wait, it was beautiful and such a NYC Christmas thing to do. We ended our evening with a long meal at a little Italian place in our neighborhood and called it a nice first holiday here.
