About this time, I’m dying to get out of the city on most weekends, mainly to find a body of water. Lucky for me along and with 2 of my friends from the office, we had reserved part of a share house on the Jersey shore. I also feel pretty lucky that out of the 3 girls that make up our department, I am fortunate as to not only like both of them, but like them enough to go away for the weekend with the two of them.
Anyway, back to Jersey. I’d been hearing all of this hype on the whole Guido experience and I was on a mission to get the full effect on our weekend getaway. Unfortunately, Anni took us to the most idyllic town on the shore and upon arrival I was uncertain that I’d never find what I’d set out looking for. We happened to be in Manasquan where adorable Cape Cod style houses set next to palatial homes that set across from our rather “rustic” cabin-esque digs. But, it was on the water, had a bed (well, Anni had the floor and a towel) a cool porch and...it was a place to sleep.
It seems that this beach town has a bit of a split personality. Each morning we sat in the park and had our bagels while we watched the kiddies play, we went to a garage sale and walked around the quaint neighborhoods. We sunned on the beach and swam in the clear ocean. But it happened to be at night where the real shore life came to action. The bars were a whole different style than anything in here and exactly what I’d come to find. My research on NJGuidos.com had paid off and I saw more tan, roided-out and shaved men I’d ever had and probably ever will in a lifetime. It was awesome. I like a little trash with my class. This comes from the girl who is currently wearing a dragon and cross tattoo that was purchased for 50 cents too much at the Key Food Grocery.
