International Day

Recently, the Mrs. and I had what I called an international day. Basically, it's a little invention I came up with where we walk through our neighborhood and stop at restaurants/bars of a different national theme. The rules are you have to order a drink native to that country, and you have to toast that country while you're there. A pretty simple idea really, but it was a ton of fun. We started out at the Irish Pub down the street from our apartment. I had a Guinness, and Anne had a Bailey's and coffee. From there we went around the corner to our favorite Mexican, Taco Taco. I had a Sol and Anne had a Mango Margarita, we also had an order of guaucamole here since we were both pretty hungry. After polishing off those tasty treats we moved on to a German biergarten down the street from us called Heidelberg. This is a pretty cool place, the bartender is a rather intimidating German lass. I had a gigantic mug of some sort of German beer and Anne had the same thing, only in a smaller mug. We popped into a greek restaurant. Next stop was a Japanese restaurant. We both had Japanese beers and we also ordered some sushi. We decided to sit at the bar and watch him make our sushi. Chung, our sushi chef, was a hell of a nice fellow. After finishing up at the Japanese place, we head down to a carribean themed bar. Here we had a couple of more beers and pretty much decided moving back toward our place was the best bet. My plan had pretty much been a success up to now, so we stopped off at a regular old bar for a couple of games of Big Buck Hunter. The Mrs. was suprisingly natural wielding the faux gun and taking down some lovely game. All in all, it turned out to be a pretty fun evening. One that I'm sure we will try to replicate at some point in the future, possibly in a new neighborhood the next time.

Sounds like a good time. When you guys come back to Springfield next time we can do it here. Hope you like Milwaukee's Best and Keystone Ice (Nate I know you like the Ice).
